Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

 2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Changed my mind, was not going to call this a race, pin on a number, it is a race, Ran the Striders 10K today, It was a good rac today with great weather.  Ran the first half about 22 minute 5k, not on my game today (legs beat up from the 15K last week and hill work), effort is what counts.   The second half was kind of a grinder up the hills.  The toughest hill, seemed like a mile long with a steep grade most of the way, passed about 20 runners this mile and had one pass me back before the finish.   Considering how trashed my legs were before the race, happy with the effort.  Me and Sylvie are getting a massage today, 20 miles tomorrow, hills on tuesday and then taper for Moab next saturday. 

By the way, met Dee today as he passed me after we crested the first big hill, he looked strong today.

Congrads to FRB, they kicked butt today at the striders 10K.

No worries Brent! You race so often, that they are great speed sessions for you. I bet that felt good to pass so many people on the hardest part of the course. I like your plan to pick a goal race and attack it. See you at Moab!

I met Dee today too before the start and he gave me bone crushing handshake. What an animal!

It was good to finally meet you after we've been crossing paths with similar times. Good job on the run. 36th Street is a killer. Good luck next week in Moab. We're going down as well.

Good job Brent, solid performance as usual even while cranking out high miles week after week and racing most every weekend. Certainly going to be a strong year all the way through for you this year. It will be interesting to see what you can do with a taper in some of the key races you have selected. I think you'll dominate your AG.

Brent, sounds like you had a great time at the race. You have an incredible attitude and in my opionion are the perfect model of what a runner should be. Moab will be a great race for you! What are your plans for mileage this week? I should be back in the 60's and build from there. Time to get back on track.

Great race, Brent. Sounds like you're pretty primed for Moab. The hill in this race makes the hill at mile 9 at Moab (what I call the "dragon") seem pretty small. Good luck.
