Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Lunch time spin, 22 mph, 24.36 miles, spin class with Sylive, good hard effort, 24 miles.  Garn, spinner is doing the Tri at blackridge on saturday, funny, he is 64 and worried about me finishing ahead of him.  I guess, one competitive, always competititve, a couple of slow old guys battle it out - battle at blackridge.

I'm SO excited to see you up there! I went to the swim clinic tonight and got rather intimated. Too many wet suits around. I need some good advice about transition areas and how to set it all up. Maybe I can just shadow you that morning? Oh, and can you tell me how in the world you can do 22 mph!! I thought I was keeping a good pace today and on the hills I could barely eek out a 7mm (like 8.5mph?). That is SO fast! You'll probably finish ahead of me!!! I've decided the bike is the make it/break it point in a tri.

Good work on the bike today. RAD and I tried to do a bike ride today, we (well at least me) almost killed myself trying to pedal up a couple of those hills. I am wondering just what I have gotten myself into on Saturday. Is it too late to ask for advice?

Devine Miss M and Cat on the Move - along with QP - what a sista trio

Well, your first Tri - recommended goals

1. Be safe on the bike, stay to the right side of the road unless you are passing another biker - you must stay at least three bike lengths behind a biker unless you are passing, main thing, be safe

2. Have fun with the Tri - is so Kool you are both doing it, it will be quite an experience.

Devine, you are so competitive, I thought I had you beat at the Ogden half, you blew by me towards the end, you will likely do the same in this race.

Cat - you have moved into the crazy world we now share, feeling good about what you do and Tri, it is fun to watch your improvement, stay off the couch.

*Note, I always thought these Tris were easy and for geeks than could not run, well, I have been educated, tough bunch of atheletes, just like runners.

Devine - could you give me directins to Butterfield park and Blackridge?

By the way, I cannot go 22 mph up the hills, no superman here, I would like to avg. over 20 for the bike, we will see depending how much uphill on the course. Also, a fancy Tri bike really helps speed, I did my first couple of Tris on a mountain bike, like running in mud compared to the other bikers.

There is a Tri at blackridge?? How did I miss that one. I have done a clinic there too. It is kind of freaky with the shallow water. It was my first open water swim. LOL I might have to come and cheer you all on.

I'm glad to know your uphill pace is a little slower. I could go 24mph (as recorded on the street sign I went by) on the downhill - without even pedaling! But, it isn't all that nice and steep :) My goal will be to try and keep you in sight on the bike...probably won't be able to, but I'll try!

I will PM you the best way to get to the park. My suggestion would be to park there and then have someone drop you off at the reservoir or just bike up there. If you go the back way it isn't too terrible, not great, but better than the way you come down!

I'm with you on the athlete's thing - I am under the opinion that people start doing tri's when marathons get too boring for them! GREAT athletes!

Thanks for the advice. I didn't know about the bike distance rule. Don't think I will be passing anyone on the bike route, as I couldn't even finish the entire route on my practice bike ride the other day. I am; however, 100% confident that I will have fun Saturday.
