Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

 2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Good upper body weight workout, 50 ball cruches over head weights, press, bench, etc. hamstring ball curls, 30 min. bike, starting to feel much better.

Mike, thanks, how does you son like his house, he got a stealer deal, good investment to turnover in a few years if he wants. Any hot spots from UVA? I am going to run that one next year. Also, where is a good place to Mountain bike in the St.George area? My son wants us to go soon.

KP, thanks, about back to normal, will try running likely tomorrow. Hey, Burt is nuts, we should get some good laughs out of his Wasatch back reports.

Brent - glad to hear you are feeling better. BTW just down the road from our condo is the trail head for the Bear Claw Poppy Trail and maybe some others. We always see tons of mt bikers out there. I'm sure there are many others in that area as well.

Goat- Hey, it's Saturday. Hope your recovery continued and you've been out pounding the pavement and spinning the wheels like crazy.

I've got a question about bikes. I'd like to get one for just pedaling around on these back country roads, so I thought a road bike would be best. My MR thinks I should get a mountain bike because "maybe" we'll want to go on trails sometime. The question I've got is: which is best? Is there some kind of in-between bike I can get?

Tom, thanks, I will check it out. Do you have a mountain bike, two old guys on the hill trail?

QP - bike questions hey, do you plan on doing Tris? Road biking? Or, mountain biking. Also, budget for the bike. You get get a very good hard tail mountain bike for less than $1,000, you can get a good beginner Tri bike or Road bike for about $1500, a good cross trainer bike for about $1,000.

My advice, if you hubby has mechanical skills, the best buy is a used bike and put a couple of hundred into the bike. Many people buy an expensive bike and then don't ride. It took me three months of watching bikes on Ebay before I found a fantastic deal. I have started my watch on Tri bikes. The winter off season is the best time to buy. Surf the internet once you decide what type of bike you want, prices, components, etc. It is a job to do the research, but, it will pay off with a good buy. Nothing like ride outside for good workout. By the way, I have 3 bikes, commuter/cross trainer, road bike and mountsin bike and looking for a fourth bike, ride them all at times.

Brent - no mountain bike at the moment but we're thinking we'd like to get a pair to have on hand at the condo. Fun to run on the dirt trails as well, have done that a few times. Easy on the feet, but maybe not always on the knees with the roller coasters.
