Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Bike commute, 27.7 miles.  My entries are so darn boring, boring boring.  My work is so darn busy, busy busy.   I have been working 11 hours days with a 1 hour bike commute each way.  I am pooped and driving to work in the morning.  Sylive's birthday tomorrow, great wife, runner, artist, mother, friend and sweet, sweet, sweet not darn boring person.

Mini Running Short:  I have a good friend, running buddy, Sheldon, he has struggled for the last 4 or 5 years to shake nagging injuries that have kept him from running his tenth St.George marathon.  His training was going well, he has picked up some sort of muscle injury in his butt.  Last year he was devastated when he had to drop out at mile 16.  I had never heard of him to cry until that day.  We have raced against each other many times and ran many killer runs together.  Bloggers, enjoy your youth and cherish every moment of running while you have the body willing and mind strong.   (We both may take the same approach at St.George, run at the back of the pack and enjoy every step of maybe our last marathon)

I don't think you your entries are boring! Do you work for the state? I thought I saw your name associated with it once- these new 4/ 10 hr days are killers, aren't they? Thanks for reminding us to enjoy running each & every day!

I agree Brent, no boring blogs from you. Actually, I look forward to reading yours daily. This may also be my last marathon. With reserving the right to run Boston, That is if all the stars align and I am lucky enouigh to quailify. I am very impressed with all the miles you have gotten out of the body. I grew up with Football, Basketball and Baseball. I hate to admit it, but I thought runners were more on the wimpy side. Boy was I WRONG!!!! Another piece of HUMBLE pie for me!!

Hey Brent, your definition of boring must be way different than the rest of us! We really appreciate all you add to the blog!

I hope Sylvie has a great birthday today! And I hope you get to enjoy it with her!

Cristi, I suppose you also work for the state, what agency? We may be related? Chisti, if you really dedicated yourself to running, you would be scary fast.

Mike, I hope you enjoy St.George if it is your last marathon. But, if your body is willing, I would never give up on the BQ, it is such an experience to run, once in a lifetime thing.

Kim, you have become the most popular person on the blog, for good reason, great person and becoming a very good runner. I hope you all get that BQ.

By the way, all of you, whether you know this or not, if you qualify for Boston at St.George, since it is after Oct 1, you qualify for the 2009 and 2010 Boston. I am trying to talk Sylive into running the 2009 Boston as I am qualified for it as she.

Stay Kool, Hey, B of BS Rools out
