Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

What I Talk About When I Talk About Running ( Haruki Murakami)  things we have may all thought, but may never blog

Roughing It - Mark Twain

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Bike Commute, 5.4 miles on excercise bike, 33.1 miles, convert to 8.25.  Upper body weights, hamstring curls.  No running motivation, zip zip and triple zero.  I need a good motivation story.  Darn day games, Sox day game and Cubs out of town on Thursday.

No running motivation??? NO RUNNING MOTIVATION? What's up with that? You know how many of us injured runners wish we had healthy legs like yours? How is THAT for motivation?

Hehehe... sorry, I got carried away a bit there... but my point is, you're healthy and the marathon date is coming up so get out there, no excuses!

From Clay on Mon, Aug 11, 2008 at 15:19:07

All I have to do is think about Paul and Ted and that is enough to get me out of bed, plus I'm on the mend from my injury so I am going to try like mad to run SG. I will have 9 weeks of training with 2 months of injury in there for good measure. So GET YOUR BUTT MOVING BRENT, maybe we can pace each other to a 6 hour time, hehehehe...

Brent I don't know if I've got a good motivation story, but watching that 4-man swim relay with the US catching France for the Gold at the last second sure got me all fired up!.

Hey do something really fun today and I'm sure shortly the motivation will be back!

Lucia, just read your blog, hang in there, you will get better, how did you get this problem? We have the cross training in common, bike like a howling commando, acqua jog, etc. Thanks for the kick in the pants.

Stay Kool, your still the Argentine Rocket

Clay, I am game, we will finish St.George if we have to jog and walk, they may close the course, we will still finish. Lets discuss our plan at the St.George blogger party before the race, I hope they still have it.

Tom, thanks for the encouragement, I am going to try and run 12 miles at Liberty park in the morning, grass/wood chips run. I am then off to Chicago for a few days. By the way, good attitude about your race on saturday, and darn Kool to be so sore, you gave it your all, that is what counts.

100 commando points to each of you for your great attitudes.

Stay Kool, Keep the Faith, B of BS Rools out

Thanks Brent - I don't know how I got the stress fracture, could be I increased my mileage too fast too soon, or simply overuse. Also, I ignored shin pain for the past 7 months. I'll stay kool if you run, how's that?

From Jody on Mon, Aug 11, 2008 at 17:07:17

I don't think I need to kick you in the butt - that has already been done. I have to agree with Tom about the relay yesterday - never, ever give up!
