Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Once a Runner (John L. Parker, Jr.)  Best fictional running book ever, a must read

Again to Carthage (John L. Parker, Jr.)  The Sequel to Once a Runner, not often a sequel compares, this one does

What I Talk About When I Talk About Running ( Haruki Murakami)  things we have may all thought, but may never blog

Roughing It - Mark Twain

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Weight workout - bench, curls, flys, etc. 150 crunches, etc.

Still not able to ride or run, likely a couple of more days off, the knee is finally starting to feel better today, some pool theraphy.  It is darn hard to be on the bench, reassessing by eating, etc. , making some positive changes.

I signed me and Sylvie up for the senior games, hard to admit I am a senior - doing  cylce hill climb up snow canyone, time trial 34 miles up by Zions, 5k, 20k and triathlon, Sylvie is doing the same except for the cycle time

Good job Brent being patient and positive even though it definitely is "darn hard" to be benched. You and Sylvie will tear it up at the games.

Yes, it IS hard to be benched! I can put my Amen to that this week.

Excited for the games! My friends dad signed up when he was the youngest he could be, he was ready to 'kick old man trash' (his words). So, get out there and show those old guys who's boss.

Devine Miss M - there are some tough old farts, I expect a good challenge with 5 events in 6 days. The one I would like to win, the Snow Canyon bike hill climb. I am going to start practicing the ride this weekend, time myself and compare to the winning time last year. I talked Sylvie into the hill climb, I am not sure she knows what she is up for. I may also give the 5K a shot at winning if I can get in the the training, would need to run somewhere in the 7 to 7:20 range.

Tom - thanks, it is albout have fun with the challenge. I consider it all good hard training for the ultimate goal coming.

Brent- glad your knee is feeling better bit by bit. You'll put a hurting on the other kids at the senior games. You put a hurting on those 1/2 your age!!

What to spin to now that Idol is over? My NC boy won, by the way. :-)

From Brent on Mon, May 30, 2011 at 22:49:54 from 66.7.127.67

QP, go Scotty, NC, he will be a country start. But, Haley was my girl, and I thought Pia had the most talent. I hope spinning takes a break,

Kids at the senior games, the spirit lives on, never give in, you, Rad, Tom and Kim, Clay, Mike, etc. are on the the life long road less traveled, but shared in spirit among us all.

Go possum go - stay kool, b of bs rools out

*Note, I will be off the blog for a few days, taking a STG long weekend, enjoy the red rock country, need a break from work.

From RAD on Mon, May 30, 2011 at 23:02:03 from 98.202.17.113

I was ALL about Casey this year. Next in line was Paul, then Haley. As they were slowly elimnated I kept pulling more and more for the next one, but much to my dismay they all got left behind. I did like Scotty from the beginning - excellent voice, just the same ol' deep male country voice. I like something a little different.

Have fun down in the red rocks!
